Butt lifts are an incredibly popular cosmetic surgery procedure. They offer a way to transform a flat backside into a curvy, more aesthetically pleasing shape. If you’ve been thinking about a Brazilian butt lift to enhance your backside, you’ll be happy to know that, these days, there are a wide variety of options available to you, everything from traditional BBL surgery to injectable Sculptra butt lifts. Identifying which procedure is right for you is something we’ll help you define in this article.
Brazilian Butt Lifts
A traditional Brazilian butt lift harvests fat from the stomach or love handles, as these are two areas of the body that typically have viable fat cells. The fat is purified and processed and then injected into the buttocks. A traditional BBL can enhance the size, projection, and shape of the backside to create a more voluptuous profile. And since it uses the individual’s own fat from a troublesome area like the stomach, it can help enhance that area of the body, too! That’s a win/win, for sure.
Brazilian butt lifts are minimally invasive procedures, which means recovery is generally much easier when compared to butt implants. However, there is still a recovery period. Individuals must refrain from sitting for at least a week and wear a compression garment for up to four weeks. Most patients also report soreness and swelling.
Sculptra Butt Lift
A Sculptra butt lift doesn’t involve any transfer of fat. Instead, a dermal filler of poly-L-lactic acid is injected into the buttocks to stimulate the production of collagen with the ultimate goal of restoring volume to the backside. The results are not as immediately noticeable—it typically takes four to six months for collagen production to pick up—and you may need multiple rounds, depending on your aesthetic goals. However, recovery is swift with only minimal side effects, like bruising, redness, or a rash at the injection site.
Which Procedure Is Right for You?
In order to choose between a Brazilian butt lift and a Sculptra butt lift, think about your cosmetic goals. Do you desire a much fuller backside with a vastly different shape? If so, traditional BBL surgery may be the way to go. Are you simply looking to restore lost volume to your buttocks? Then you may be happy with the Sculptra butt lift.
Another thing to consider is your body type. Many people are not candidates for traditional BBL surgery because they do not have enough donor fat in their stomach and love handles. In this case, a Sculptra butt lift is a great alternative. Another option is a skinny Brazilian butt lift, which is ideal for those with body mass indexes (BMIs) of 25 or less. In this procedure, the cosmetic surgeon harvests fat from the trunk, thighs, or back and injects it into the buttocks.
