RHA Fillers Versus JUVÉDERM®

While there’s nothing wrong with some wrinkles or other facial lines, many people prefer to combat them by using dermal fillers. These gel-like substances are injected under the skin to create a smoother or fuller appearance and are made from materials that the body eventually breaks down and absorbs. While there are various types of dermal fillers available today, two prove to be exceptionally popular: RHA and JUVÉDERM®. In order to decide which one is the right choice for you and your skin, it can be helpful to learn the similarities between RHA and JUVÉDERM® and also how they differ.

What RHA & JUVÉDERM® Have in Common

Hyaluronic acid (HA) occurs naturally in your body’s tissues and helps provide moisture, volume, and structure to your skin. Dermal fillers like RHA® Collection and JUVÉDERM® are made using hyaluronic acid, so when they’re injected into the face they can mimic HA lost due to aging and rebuild lost volume. RHA fillers and certain types of JUVÉDERM® are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

How RHA & JUVÉDERM® Differ

While our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid, in order for dermal fillers to be created with this material they need to be chemically formulated. RHA fillers require less processing than JUVÉDERM® and other traditional HA fillers, so RHA is considered to be a bit ‘cleaner’ of an option. This fact along can make RHA fillers more appealing to some people, but this also means people tend to be less reactive after having them injected. What’s more, RHA fillers were formulated to treat dynamic wrinkles and folds in the face—these are ones that move with your natural facial expressions. Finally, while no HA fillers last forever, the RHA® Collection have proven to last a few months longer than other fillers like JUVÉDERM®.
