What Are the Best Fillers for the Face?

The concept of facial fillers (also known as dermal fillers) has greatly changed over the years. Not only has the stigma surrounding them declined, but various types have been created, giving the public a plethora of options and making facial fillers generally more affordable. Now it creates a new problem: How do you know which ones to get? With so many different fillers available today, it can be a little overwhelming determining which ones are the best for your face. Because every person and their skin are unique, there is no clear-cut answer; what works best for someone might not for a different person! With that said, there are a handful of dermal fillers that stand out from the rest.

JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM is a collection of injectable fillers, with each type designed to be used in a different part of the face. The main ingredient in JUVÉDERM is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that gives the skin moisture, volume, and elasticity. The effects of Juvéderm can last anywhere from six months to 18 months before the body gradually absorbs the material.

RHA® Fillers

Resilient hyaluronic acid (RHA) fillers are also made with the main ingredient as hyaluronic acid. The RHA® Collection is made with an especially gentle manufacturing process that helps preserve the natural structure of the hyaluronic acid, allowing it to more closely resemble the natural HA in your skin. Furthermore, RHA fillers are designed to be resilient enough to adapt to your facial movement, targeting even the most dynamic wrinkles and folds.

Radiesse

Radiesse contains tiny particles of calcium hydroxylapatite that are suspended in a thick gel-like solution. Because calcium hydroxylapatite is biosynthetically produced, those who receive Radiesse have a lower risk of allergic reaction. This dermal filler is often used to smooth moderate-to-severe creases and enhance fullness of the cheeks.

Sculptra

Sculptra is an injectable cosmetic filler that contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA stimulates collagen, a protein found in connective tissue, skin, tendon, bone, and cartilage that provides structural support to tissues. Since Sculptra slowly promotes collagen production, results can slowly develop over several months. The final results of the treatment can last anywhere from two to five years.
