What Is SkinPen?

How Is SkinPen Treatment Performed?
Your SkinPen treatment will be performed a team led by our cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Manik S. Bedi. Before we begin, we can apply a numbing agent to the treatment area if you wish. SkinPen is not a painful procedure but most patients report a mild sensation that may be uncomfortable if you’re sensitive to pain.
During the procedure, Dr. Bedi’s team will move the device across the treatment area to begin the repairing process. There are three stages that your skin will go through once the SkinPen treatment begins:
- Inflammation – When the skin is initially pierced, your immune system immediately gets to work removing debris, disinfecting wounds, increasing blood flow, and creating new tissue.
- Proliferation – This next phase is where the repair process begins, as the wounds (i.e., your scars, wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, etc.) are rebuilt with new cells and new blood vessels form.
- Remodeling – This last phase is where your skin begins to heal, as new dermal tissues and blood vessels replace the old wounds.
This procedure takes less than an hour to complete, and you’ll need three to six sessions to see results. Each session must be spaced at least four weeks apart.
